Is AgentAlpha really free?
Yes. The full platform is open source under the MIT license. You can self-host it on your own server, laptop, or VPS with zero cost. There are no feature gates, no trial periods, and no hidden limits.
What's the difference between self-hosted and cloud?
Same codebase, same features. The cloud plans just mean we host it for you — we handle updates, backups, uptime, and infrastructure. Self-hosted means you run it yourself and have full control.
Do I own my data?
Always. Self-hosted: data lives on your machine, period. Cloud: you can export everything at any time. We never sell or share your trading data.
Can I switch between self-hosted and cloud?
Yes. You can migrate from self-hosted to cloud (or back) at any time. We provide import/export tools to move your agents, strategies, and historical data.
What do I need to self-host?
A machine with Docker installed. That's it. Works on Linux, macOS, and Windows (WSL). Minimum 1 GB RAM. Full setup takes about 60 seconds with our install script.
Do I need to provide my own LLM API keys?
Yes, for self-hosted you bring your own API keys (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.). Cloud plans include LLM access through our infrastructure.
